Studio

Hello, I’m Tara.

My route into millinery began with a love of making. As a child I was rarely happier than when sewing, arranging flowers or creating sculptures from wire, clay and plaster. Although I arrived at London College of Fashion intending to become a sculptor’, I soon realised that a hat is sculpture simply bought to life.

After specialising in millinery, I trained with Philip Treacy during the early years of his business, progressing from making tea to working on ready-to-wear and couture collections. Those years taught me the value of craftsmanship, attention to detail and the transformative power of a beautifully made hat.

Since then, my career has taken me from London to Sydney and New York before eventually bringing me home to Wiltshire, where my studio is now based at Netherhampton House.

For more than thirty years I have created hats for weddings, race meetings and special occasions. Today, alongside my bespoke service and Ascot collection, I also design sun hats inspired by a deeply personal experience.

Following a skin cancer diagnosis, I became determined to create hats that offered genuine protection without compromising on style. Drawing on decades of millinery expertise and conversations with countless clients, I developed a collection that combines traditional craftsmanship with thoughtful design, including an adjustable fit for comfort and security.

Every hat is made with the same philosophy: beautiful, practical and designer to be worn.

After all, life is better in a hat.
